Facility Minor Works Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

Working for a world-class facility at the cutting edge of atomic and molecular research, this 2 year contract will see you provide a high standard of onsite coordination and supervision of construction activities to ensure build projects are delivered in an efficient and safe manner.

About the job:

  • 2-year full time contract
  • Annual salary up to $105,750K + 10% super (commensurate to experience and quals)
  • Based in Clayton

What you will be doing:

  • Provide quality construction supervision and technically sound engineering advice to stakeholders to ensure smooth planning, management and coordination of site wide construction activities.
  • Creating and maintaining a strategy describing phases of construction projects and logistics and safety measures and ensure they are followed.
  • Support facility team with the management of construction contractual risks and issues, and coordinate interfaces between technical projects, construction contractors, and safety.
  • Ensure all work undertaken complies with the organisation’s quality, environmental, safety, security and regulatory framework (standards, regulatory requirements, policies, guidelines, systems, processes, procedures and instructions);
  • Document and provide quality verbal and written reports to project delivery teams and management forums on construction progress, coordination issues, schedule, risks, and safety issues.
  • Manage the risks associated with construction activity impacting on businesses as usual activities, staff, existing services and infrastructure, and other projects.
  • Participate in tender reviews, design reviews, construction reviews and safety reviews providing a practical perspective on constructability, practicality and maintainability.
  • Review and identify opportunities to improve and ensure quality control documentation which is which is suitable for auditing purposes.
  • Conduct contractor inductions
  • Attendance to site WHS committee to raise or represent issues arising from construction projects.

Selection Criteria:

  • Due to the nature of this role, applicants MUST be Australian Citizens and be willing to obtain baseline security clearance
  • Qualifications in Building Construction and extensive experience in supervision and coordination of minor construction and Facility upgrade works – ideally in a commercial environment;
  • Demonstrated experience in the management and coordination of a construction site and external contractors
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of industry standard methods used to manage site, equipment and personal safety
  • Project Management experience, related to the management of civil, building projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management and priority management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil services, building services and emergency services such as fire detection and suppression, emergency lighting etc. and related documentation.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across the organisation.
  • Problem solve in a methodical and systematic manner
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a workplace with many stakeholders and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance requirements.
