World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2022

11 April 2022

Thursday, 28 April 2022 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day. The day provides an opportunity to reflect on how to prevent occupational deaths, injuries, diseases and illnesses. It is also a day to remember those who have died from a work-related injury or illness.

This year’s theme is ‘Act together to build a positive safety and health culture’ and encourages workplaces to foster a strong work health and safety culture in which everyone contributes to a safe and healthy working environment.

It is a reminder that we all need to embed WHS into our workplace culture and make it everyone’s responsibility to save lives and create happy, safe, and healthy workplaces.

What does Horner do to foster a strong work health and safety culture?

The health, safety and wellbeing of our Horner Community of candidates, clients and staff is always of our utmost priority.

At Horner, we:

  • Are OHS Act 2004 compliant & committed to best practice. We have policies and procedures in place.
  • Provide the appropriate health and safety induction to our candidates when candidates register with Horner.
  • Undertake OHS  site evaluations on host employer sites via industry-leading online software.
  • Ensure our candidates are provided with training, information and supervision to enable you to carry out your work duties in a safe manner.
  • Monitor work sites and conditions to ensure they are kept safe and free from risks to our candidate’s health.
  • Provide regular OHS tips and advice to our candidates via our Health, Safety & Wellbeing Bulletins, SMS campaigns, on payslips and social media.
  • Consult with our candidates and clients in relation to health and safety.
  • Have an OHS Committee to oversee, manage and improve safety and wellbeing practices at Horner.
  • Support and promote health, safety and wellbeing events such as World Day for Safety and Health at Work
  • Participate in health and wellbeing fundraisers such as Steptember and Cancer Council’s Biggest Morning Tea
  • Won a WorkSafe Award in the category “Leading Return to Work practice by an employer”!

Did you know that a Horner Casual worker will never commence work on a host client site without Horner undertaking a comprehensive OHS site evaluation of the workplace to ensure it is safe for the Casual Worker?
