Leaders in Lung Health – The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) is the only health peak body representing a range of professions – medical specialists, scientists, researchers, academics, nurses, physiotherapists and others who work in and support lung health.
Growing from the Laennec Society the Thoracic Society was established in 1960. Today TSANZ is the only peak body to represent all professional groups with an interest in improving knowledge and understanding of lung disease across Australia and New Zealand with a membership base of over 1800 individuals.
The Position
TSANZ is seeking a visionary and mission-centred individual to lead the organisation in the delivery of the current strategic plan through to 2026 whilst working closely with the board to develop the next strategic plan for 2027 and beyond. An individual who will drive the focus on Continued Education, Research, Best Practice and Advocacy whilst maintaining Financial Sustainability along with Excellence in Ethics and Governance.
Reporting to the Chair and working closely with the Board, the CEO is accountable for leadership, strategy, and operations and will drive excellence in all aspects of research, prevention and program delivery. Supporting a committed and dedicated workforce of employees, this role will provide strategic advice on policy and operational matters to the Board, deepen relationships with government, other partner organisations and members.
The successful incumbent will understand the clinical world, be an inspirational and inclusive CEO who possesses exceptional communication skills, is well versed in proactive advocacy and influencing, capable of leveraging government to develop and increase prospects for funding. You will have strong financial acumen, a track record of building mutually beneficial partnerships with outstanding stakeholder engagement skills building confidence with members to deliver further funding opportunities.
Tertiary qualifications in health, management or a related field are preferred.
